I’m still weaving my way through these passage images. I’ve had this group of images on the back burner for quite some time. Being able to paint them in oil, without the use of solvents has been the motivation to finally put them to brush.

Not that I paint with oils yet, but what are you using to thin your paint (if you do) and clean your brushes? Oil and soap, respectively?

Hi Chris. I’m using M. Graham oils. They are ground in walnut oil. I use their walnut alkyd medium , along with their walnut oil to thin the paint. I use their walnut oil to clean brushes , along with a little soap and water. No solvents.

Great to know that’s possible (being solvent-free).

And a follow-up question: Have you tried water-based oil paints, like Cobra? If so, what did you think?
I’d like to try oils, but I am wary of solvents.

Hi Chris. I did try some of the water-based oils a while back but I’m enjoying these so much more. All the best.

Just beautiful! I love the way you made this technique work for you. I like the idea of walnut oil, too. Wonderful!
