Driving along the patchwork hills headed toward the shore, the sky and sea open up and everything seems possible.

Maybe this is PEI, where I’ve never been, but I’ve driven along the Maine to NB coast at least as far as St. John (40 yrs ago) and this painting does convey that feeling of light and raw space you get along the north Atlantic coast. I like the way you divided the space into a very tame land and a wild sky.

Like the cousins they are, the landscape of the eastern coast of Maine and New Brunswick do share many characteristics with P.E.I.
