
“Preserved Fossil” is my first completed painting of the new year. Inside the mason jar lie the fragments (fossilized remains) of an autumnal maple leaf. In the jar the leaf is on view in the same way ancient fossils might be displayed in the somewhat more fanciful glass cases of a museum.
Except that they’re distorted in such an interesting way. This is the kind of thing I would photograph, so I’m in awe of your completing a watercolor of the subject. Beautiful. 🙂
